Abstract

The Society for Industrial Microbiology was organized on December 29, 1949, at a meeting held in the ballroom of the Hotel McAlpin in New York City. Between 250 and 300 scientists were present. Dr. Charles Thom was elected chairman for the year 1950. He appointed the following as member s with him of the Committee of Organization:

  • Dr. M. M. Baldwin, Battelle Memorial Institute, Columbus, Ohio.

  • Dr. Walter N. Ezekiel, Head Mycologist, Bureau of Ordnance, Department of the Navy, Washington, D. C.

  • Dr. F. G. Walton Smith, Director, University of Miami, Marine Laboratory, Coral Gables, Florida.

  • Dr. E. A. Walker, Production and Marketing Administration, Department of Agriculture, Washington, D. C.

  • Dr. W. L. White, Curator, Farlow Herbarium, Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts.

  • Dr. C. L. Porter, Department of Biological Sciences, Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana.
