Abstract
During the late 1950’s considerable interest was developing in beryllium’s unique qualities and its potential in new applications. At this same time, the Wyman-Gordon Company was exploring new areas in which to utilize its large presses. The limitations of the press-sintering technique for beryllium were evident, and this, coupled with a consideration of the commercial powder business, led to the development of a new method of beryllium fabrication.
