Abstract
Pain is a challenging and complex condition to manage. The treatment of pain requires a multidisciplinary and multimodal approach, making the spectrum of pain care broad. A combination of conservative management with pharmacotherapy and interventional techniques should be utilized as part of a comprehensive pain care plan. Implantable therapies are an emerging therapy that should also be considered earlier in the pain care algorithm instead of waiting until the patient has exhausted all other treatment options. Despite the wide array of treatment options available, many patients have unremitting pain, and surgical interventions may be warranted.
