Abstract
This chapter addresses deaths related to burns, as well as fire-related deaths. It begins by describing the various types and extent of burns that can be encountered in such cases, along with specific sub-types of burns, including dry burns, radiant burns, scald burns, chemical burns, and fire-related thermal burns. Next, the chapter discusses issues of importance when dealing with a body found at a fire scene. It concludes by addressing other important issues, including autopsy findings, mechanism of death, death certification, fire investigation, and cremation.
