Abstract
This chapter is devoted to the characterization of the “size” of a periodic system. To be precise, we will introduce the notion of norm in a variety of facets: the L2 norm, the L∞ norm and the Hankel norm. Moreover, as a trade-off between the L2 and the L∞ norm, we also introduce the concept of “entropy”. As pointed out herein and in subsequent chapters, each of introduced system measures plays a specific role in diverse classical problems of analysis, filtering and control.
