The E-learning System for Teaching Bridging Mathematics Course to Applied Degree Studies

Abstract

Over the last decade it is becoming more common that traditional universities embrace also the e-learning system, because most students are working students (being not able to attend the courses) and most teachers noticed that using only their handouts or classical books is not enough for a good preparation of these students. The interactive materials, offered by the on-line tools, encourage faster and more intuitive learning. Therefore more dissemination articles, describing the experience of those universities/teachers exploring/using the e-learning system, are more common in literature. Also the current chapter aims to follow the same direction. In this work, we present a comparison between two universities, an Italian one (University of Udine) and a Slovenian one (University of Nova Gorica), situated at less than 50 km far away from one another, similar as the educational system, but different as their dimension (in numbers of students and professors/researchers). Our study is focussed on the e-learning system for teaching the math bridge-course to applied degrees studies.
