Abstract

The necessity for involvement in the development of hydrocarbon fields with hard to recover reserves lying in complex geological conditions is the reason for the increased attention of producing and service companies to research in the fields of science related to the study of various properties of rocks. The paper presents experimental data on the measurement of acoustic emission simultaneously with laboratory modeling of the stress-strain state of rocks with unique experimental station test system for independent triaxial compression TSITC. The aim of the study was establishing the relationship between acoustic emission parameters and the stress-strain state of rocks when elastic deformation proceeds into plastic. In the course of biaxial experiments, it was demonstrated that the acoustic emission data obtained from sensors located on the sample free surface and compressive assembly of TSITC have the same patterns. This made it possible to carry out further triaxial experiments in which all acoustic emission sensors were located on the apparatus compressive assembly. The results of the experiments showed the presence of a legible connection between the acoustic emission total number of pulses and the deformation values of rock samples. It was also shown that the acoustic emission measurements allow predicting the experimental sample transition from elastic to plastic deformation (the beginning of sample destruction). The analysis of the acoustic emission pulses total number dependence on time during the experiment with the loading of rock sample with a uniform deformation increase demonstrated the stages of loading, when the greatest number of micro and macro defects in the sample occurs.
