Anterior Interosseous Nerve to Ulnar Nerve Transfer

Abstract

Severe ulnar nerve compression at the elbow can present a difficult problem to a patient and surgeon due to the decreased functional recovery after surgical release. Previously, surgeons have relied on distal tendon transfers to fix those patients who did not recover adequate motor function. With the advances in distal nerve transfers, and especially reverse end-to-side transfers, there may be more options available to the hand surgeons in these difficult subset of patients.
