Abstract

This chapter provides guidance to healthcare simulation technology specialists (HSTS) regarding professional development and career advancement. The traditional academic degrees required for a career in simulation technology as well as avenues for advancement via certification programs are reviewed. Organizational memberships, website resources, massive open online classes, stackable credentials, and digital badging credentials are also discussed in detail. Additionally, the importance of maximizing conference attendance and tips for speaking at conferences are also discussed. The chapter ends with a discussion of career portfolio development and résumé preparation.
