Abstract
Successful treatment of cases with asymmetry starts with clear assessment and quantification on the deviation with reference to six degrees of freedom. The asymmetries in the maxillo-mandibular complex (MMC) could be confined to the maxilla alone, mandible alone, or a combination of both the maxilla and the mandible and the interrelationship with occlusion. The effect of midsagittal deviations on MMC, the methods to assess, and a suitable treatment plan for the successful management would also be discussed.
There is no symmetry in nature. One eye is never exactly the same as the other.
