Abstract

One of the most intense migratory movements of recent years is the mass outflow of refugees from Syria to various countries of the Middle East and Europe. A very small proportion of Syrian refugees, less than 3.5 thousand people, have gone to Poland. The majority of this group has been granted various forms of protection, although a significant number of individuals voluntarily interrupted the decision process and their cases have been dismissed. Definitely, the largest portion of Syrians applied for a temporary residence permit. As of the end of 2017, there were only 1000 Syrian citizens living in Poland. 71% of them were men, among whom the 20–34 age bracket dominated. Collective data on the social structures of Syrian refugees in Poland do not exist. On the basis of indirect premises it can be concluded that they live mainly in large cities located in the central part of the country.
