Abstract
A lot has been said about leadership and crisis independently, but there are still major gaps. One of the most significant gaps which is necessary to set the groundwork for future research is in providing simple yet comprehensive overviews of the terms, supporting theories, and the opportunities to look at crisis leadership differently. This chapter reviews past research on crisis and leadership to bring forth comprehensive definitions while clarifying what the terms are and what they are not both independently and as a joint phenomenon. Second, it builds on existing research by offering a Christian perspective on crisis leadership and what sets it apart from other non-Christian forms. It highlights the benefits of a Christian perspective while suggesting that crisis situations should be embraced because of the opportunities they present. This chapter is an extension of current research that suggests the opportunity to look at crisis leadership with a more positive lens. The expectation is that the clarity brought forth will serve as a springboard for additional research and practice in leadership and to positively embrace the potential in crisis situations.
