Abstract

Through recent years, public’s requirements for comfort and safety of cities’ infrastructure have considerably risen. Naturally, cities’ governments have striven to satisfy demands of their citizens. An innovative concept of intelligent decision-making support system for city environment management, presented in this paper, is oriented towards integration of modern GIS-technologies, information technologies and decision-making tools into city planning and management processes. This concept was developed as a part of international collaborative project CRISALIDE under the international program ERA.Net RUS PLUS. In this paper, we discuss major problems associated with transition of a city to a smart city model and various approaches to realisation of this model. Within this paper, we also provide estimation of prospects for further development of smart city concepts in Russia and overseas.
