Methodological Approach to Classification of Digital Technologies According to the Criterion of Ecological Effectiveness and Sustainability

Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this work is to substantiate the methodological approach to classification of digital technologies according to the criterion of ecological effectiveness and sustainability. Design/methodology/approach: The logic of the research is built on the necessity for describing the normative and legal foundations of formation of digital technologies in Russia, performing an overview of statistics in this sphere, and building a classification of digital technologies in the interests of development of “green” economy and according to the criteria of ecological effectiveness and financial sustainability and in view of the stages of products’ life cycle. The research is based on the principles of objectivity and systemic character. The authors use a complex scientific approach that is based on application of the methods of systemic analysis, synthesis, and statistical grouping with detailed analysis of the initial materials of the legal, economic, and financial character. The authors use the following methods: abstract and logical, statistical grouping, and forecasting. Besides, the authors use the tools of graphic interpretation of the obtained results. Findings: Studying the specific features of legal regulation of the digital sphere in Russia allows concluding on the necessity for creating the systems of information security of a new generation and formation of a scientific foundation for implementation and successful functioning of digital technologies in Russia. Usage of scientifically substantiated classification of digital technologies according to the level of financial sustainability and ecological security allows determining specific measures for solving the problems of development of digital economy. Evaluation of the indicators of financial sustainability of digital technologies allows determining the problems in the segment of their application in organizations that conduct nature protection activities. Originality/value: The presented scientifically substantiated approach is very original, as it has not analogs in the scientific and special literature. The importance of the presented research consists in the possibility of further development of the studied problems and supplementing it with new approaches and criteria—based on the tendencies of development of the digital economy in the context of ecological performance and sustainability.
