Abstract
As part of a research program to study the “Rotation Capacity of Masonry Walls”, 44 masonry walls with a height of 260 cm were tested at the Institute of Structural Engineering, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zürich. The primary objective of these tests was to investigate the moment-curvature relationship and the endrotation of masonry brick walls. The upper end of the walls was hinged. Under constant axial load, the bottom end was rotated by increments until the wall failed (see Figs. 11, 12, 13). This angle of rotation, the corresponding eccentricity of the axial load, horizontal deflection, vertical deformations on both sides of the wall and the behavior of cracking were observed.
