Abstract
In Chapter 1 we introduced stellarators as the second major family of fusion devices. Their main features are their current-less plasmas and good stability. They were invented by L. Spitzer in the 50 s and the first stellarator was built at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory in the USA.
