Abstract
Historically, volcanoes cause 4.6 % of tsunami and 9.1 % of the deaths attributable to this hazard, totaling 41,002 people. This chapter examines the causes of volcano-induced tsunami together with examples from around the world. In particular, the Krakatau eruption of 1883 and the Santorini eruption around 1470 BC are described in detail.
