Abstract

This chapter presents the methods employed for modelling the water use in different industrial applications and in the energy industry. The district values are allocated to the proxels with the help of remote sensing. Water abstraction by the industrial sector is modelled as the dependent variable in a system of regression equation analyses in RIWU, which forms the basis for the DANUBIA model Economy. There are a total of 1,610 proxels with industrial development. Taken together, approximately 34 m3 of water per second were supplied in January 1995. This is equivalent to approximately 2.9 million m3 of water per day. According to the model calculations, a total of approximately 35 % of the water abstraction is sourced from groundwater.
