Abstract

Chronic pelvic pain syndromes affect both genders and usually present as a complex challenging diagnostic and therapeutic dilemma.

The most common syndrome in men is Chronic Prostatitis/Chronic Pelvic Pain syndrome (CP/CPPS). It is one of the most common urologic diagnoses in men. Patients often present with a complex symptoms that impact on quality of life. The etiology of this problem remains poorly understood.

No single therapy has been clearly shown to be effective for CP/CPPS. A multimodal approach that combines both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments is most likely to provide positive outcome.
