Abstract
In many normal instances, denial helps people deal with bad news. Instead of acknowledging that a negative event happened, people deny it. This behavior would be helpful if whatever happened is a minor problem, like a scratch or bruise that can’t develop into something worse. However, for example, if a young woman has unprotected sex and denies that she can become pregnant or catch an STD, she is in trouble.
