Abstract

The results presented in the previous chapters point out that APS is a suitable technique for the time resolved investigation of the nonlinear dynamics intense few-cycle pulses induce in matter. Its potential can be further exploited if another degree of freedom is accessible: by employing few-cycle pulses with a modifiable temporal envelope, the dependence of the nonlinearity not only on the peak intensity but on the shape of the waveform can be explored.
