Abstract

Obesity surgery has increased its popularity worldwide in match with the increased obesity rate. Many techniques have shown their beneficial effects on individuals with varying degrees of obesity, including non-obese metabolically ill patients. Current guidelines define selection criteria. In terms of technique the debate is still ongoing. Accurate description of each technique must be done in order to reach a gold standard in the confection of a procedure.
