Abstract
Without a careful consideration of benefits and costs, geriatric telepsychiatry cannot be shown to be a sustainable alternative to treatment delivery for the geriatric population. The aging of the Baby Boomer population cohort has dramatically changed the characteristics of the geriatric population and this change will be apparent for at least the next 40 years. This section will examine the characteristics of the geriatric population and their mental health needs.
