Abstract

This chapter introduces Turkey as an emerging economy and discusses its evolution by presenting the past and current state of Turkish firms’ cross-border operations. It concentrates primarily on the country’s transformation in recent decades by highlighting its characteristics, its economic development, and its growing foreign trade and foreign direct investment by presenting relevant data and statistics.
