Abstract

This chapter reviews the epidemiology, genetics, and pathophysiology of type 2 diabetes. Topics covered include insulin resistance, obesity and β-cell dysfunction, complications of type 2 diabetes during pregnancy, prediabetes, prevention of type 2 diabetes, and diagnosis and management of type 2 diabetes during pregnancy.
