Abstract

Immediately after the discovery of radioactivity induced by the bombardment of neutrons in aluminium and fluorine Fermi carried on his research and succeeded in activating other elements too. The congratulations that Lord Rutherford expressed to him in a letter on 23 April 1934, shown in Fig. 65, exhibiting his full approval of Fermi’s transition from theoretical research to experimental research are significant.
