Migration, Refugees and Human Security in the Mediterranean and MENA

Abstract

In this chapter, we will look at the case of children and youth in conflict, particularly with regard to their vulnerability as refugees and migrants who have little control over their own lives, as seen in recent and striking images of the distress around this. The chapter will provide a global overview of the problem, explore the particular vulnerabilities of children in conflict, in transit and in transposed locations and specifically examine problems facing these vulnerable groups in the MENA region. This chapter will conclude with a discussion on fostering safety and resilience for these children.
