Abstract

Considered an essential tool in higher education, textbooks are increasingly becoming unaffordable for many students. Open educational resources are one solution to this problem that can alleviate the financial burden on students and also provide increased flexibility and freedom for faculty. This chapter presents faculty and student perspectives of using open educational resources and/or open textbooks in their courses, and offers examples of how the integration of open educational resources in a course can improve faculty and student engagement.
