Abstract

The coordinate measuring machine (CMM) is among the powerful tools used to measure the conformity of the mechanical parts. The performance of this machine is partly affected by geometric errors associated to its articulations. To provide remedial actions to the CMM in case of non-conformity, we propose a method to identify geometric errors characterizing the machine using the inverse method, when measuring a ball step-gauge in seven locations as defined in the ASME 89.4.10360.2-2008 standard and nineteen positions proposed by G. Zhang.
