Abstract

I will start by saying that, although this essay is critical of some of what Routley has said in the Appendix ‘Ultralogic as Universal?’, I have great respect for him as a logician, and a large part of my approach to logic has been influenced by him over the years. I have valued him as a friend and mentor since we first met at the University of New England in 1966. I still feel saddened by his all too early demise at the age of 60.
