Abstract
Paediatric referrals to rapid access clinics fall into a pattern of age groups. Neonates present with obvious structural anomalies, leukocoria or ophthalmia neonatorum. Older babies present with poor visual responses, congenital glaucoma, anisocoria and non accidental injury. Older children are referred by optometrists with incidental findings which may cause alarm. Paediatricians refer a variety of patients for visual assessment if there are other developmental issues, and also patients or family members with neurofibromatosis.
