Abstract

The usual nitrogen and protein parameters analyzed in the blood for clinical and nutritional purpose are (except hormones and metalloenzymes) mainly total proteins, albumin, and globulins. Those parameters are a reflect of the diet, but are also indicators of some health disturbances as parasitism, especially the ratio Albumin/Globulin. Other parameters as haptoglobin, pepsinogen and fibrinogen can be used as indicators of inflammation. Regarding urea, the characteristic of camel, due to his high ability to recycle nitrogen, is his sensitivity to ureas toxicity. Other non-protein nitrogen parameters (creatinine, uric acid and bilirubin) could be investigated.
