Abstract
The computational simulation of photovoltaic panels is essential to design photovoltaic systems . However, the datasheet of the panels does not provide all information necessary for the computational simulation. Therefore, it becomes necessary to develop methods to estimate the unknown model parameters of the panels. This work addresses the application of the firefly algorithm to estimate model parameters of photovoltaic systems. The objective function of the firefly algorithm corresponds to the minimization of the mean square error between the I–V curve provided by the datasheet and the I–V curve generated by the estimated parameters. The firefly algorithm provides the smallest error compared to some methods present in the literature.
