Abstract
Discrete Element Method (DEM) in conjunction with Darcy’s law is applied to simulate the undrained behavior of water-saturated particulate assemblies sheared under continuous rotation of Lode angle. DEM simulations show that the undrained rotation of Lode angle leads to liquefaction of particulate assemblies, decrease in coordination number and evolution of contact fabric anisotropy.
