Abstract
There is much to be seen and to behold in the universe. Many of these wonders are within easy reach of the astronomer, amateur and professional alike. We pride ourselves on having pushed back the boundaries on Earth with the great explorers like Marco Polo, Ferdinand Magellan, and Captain Cook setting sail to see exactly what our planet had to offer in terms of new lands and new civilizations. And yet, despite all the explorers of the past and present, just 5% of the Earth’s oceans has been explored. Considering the oceans make for 70% of the Earth’s surface, we still have much work to do right in our own backyard.
