Abstract
In numerous cases, a particular flow feature is caused by specific boundary conditions; for instance, by bends or discontinuities in the curvature of a wall, by sharp tips of bodies, by leading edges of plates in viscous or inviscid flow and by similar conditions. Likewise, the boundary conditions at infinity, for example the stipulation of the transition into a parallel flow, can lead to related problems. Finally, one needs to mention also the intersection of shock waves and the reflection of shocks on the walls. In the mathematical sense, the shock equations really represent just a boundary condition for the flow properties on both sides of the shock front.
