Krisenmanagement im Jugoslawienkonflikt: Deutschland und Frankreich im Vergleich

Die Zukunft von Nationalstaaten in der europäischen Integration

Zusammenfassung

Am 24. März 1989 stimmte das Parlament des Kosovo unter massivem serbischen Druck einer Verfassungsänderung zu, die die Autonomierechte der Region außer Kraft setzte. Damit spitzte sich die Krise der „Föderativen Republik Jugoslawien“, wie das titoistische Staatsgebilde offiziell hieß, gefährlich zu; die ethno-nationalistischen Gegensätze, die insbesondere von der serbischen Nomenklatura geschürt worden waren, eskalierten zu einem gewaltsamen Zerfallskrieg, in dem das ehemalige Jugoslawien sich in (derzeit) fünf neue Staaten auflöste. Dieser gewalttätige Auflösungsprozess endete am 5. Oktober 2000 mit dem Sturz des serbischen Staatspräsidenten Slobodan Milosevic und der dadurch ermöglichten Einleitung von Demokratisierungsprozessen in Serbien. Unklar bleibt freilich noch die staatliche Zukunft des Kosovo und Montenegros.
