Die lyrische Pose im Jugendstilgewand bezeichnet zugleich eine Grundkonstellation seiner dichterischen Existenz und gilt im schriftstellerischen wie im biographischen Kontext. Hofmannsthals Leben und Schreiben ist geprägt von einem ausgreifenden Gestus und von einer seismographischen Aufnahmefähigkeit.
