Abstract

If you live and breath it’s clear that the e-world is here. If you are in the software development business or your business is significantly dependent on software the e-world’s impact on you is nothing short of phenomenal. The market is demanding, in internet-speed, Six Sigma quality, product development cycle-times 10-100 times faster than tradition, and extraordinary innovation. From a software development technology point of view this means order of magnitude improvements in the methods we use to achieve quality, productivity, and cycle-time. This is the challenge for the 2000’s. This presentation will address the state of the practice in these areas and spell out the target as defined by the market and the gap that exists. We will discuss process, tools and environments, and culture change/management, this will lead to definition of a series of challenges.

The companies left standing at the end of this race will have mastered many of these challenges, are you in the race to win or just to run?
