Zusammenfassung
Grundsätzlich beschreibt die Begrifflichkeit »postthrombotisches Syndrom« (PTS) jede zeitliche Folge nach einer Thrombose der tiefen Venen der unteren oder auch der oberen Extremitäten. Gemeint sind aber ausschließlich die Patienten, bei denen die Thrombose der tiefen Venen zu einer Störung des venösen Abflusses geführt hat. Folgenlos stattgefundene Thrombosen werden üblicherweise nicht mit diesem Begriff beschrieben.
