Abstract
I wish to congratulate the three main speakers on their excellent presentations. Their critical analyses of the work of the ILC are pertinent and thought provoking. It is helpful for the ILC members to receive such comments from outside. To be fair and honest, I must say it is a difficult task to evaluate how international law promotes peace from the perspective of one single subject. The three topics discussed actually boil down to one general theme, that is, how to define and evaluate the role of the ILC’s work in promoting world peace and security. The question may sound self-evident but people’s perspectives could vary greatly.
