Abstract

In this chapter the issues regarding proper formatting of raw/baseband (without any modulation) transmitted signaling bits are the main topic of discussion. The necessary components of the design of digital baseband signal transmitter are discussed. Spectral and timing response characteristics for different formats are compared. Finally, at the end of this chapter one can understand the procedure through which one can encode a signal which is transmittable through a band-limited channel so that the symbols can be received and reconstructed un-erroneously.

Notes

  1. 1.

    Poission’s sum formula states that, \(\sum\limits_{k = - \infty }^\infty {e^{ - j2\pi kf/r_B } } = r_B \sum\limits_{k = - \infty }^\infty {\delta \left( {f - kr_B } \right)}.\)
