Abstract

Resonance absorption can take place if a p-polarized laser pulse irradiates the target at an angle θ. The electric field perpendicular to the target surface tunnels through the critical surface and resonantly drives an electron plasma wave. This wave can be damped either by collision or collisionless processes.
