Abstract

Issues related to international trades are not only one of the main concerns of professional economists, but also a main concern of politicians and the public in general. Various models were proposed to explain why nations trade and how trade patterns are determined. Different economists emphasize various factors, such as differences in national resources, capital accumulation and technology, in explaining trade issues. In Chapter 3, we studied global growth and trade patterns when each country’s labor force is classified into two groups. The concern of this chapter is still to extend the model developed in Chapter 2. The main difference of this chapter from Chapter 2 is related to behavior of households of different countries. We explicitly introduce endogenous savings, time allocation and sexual division of labor in our model.
