Zusammenfassung
Das hintere Kreuzband hat komplexe Aufgaben während eines gesamten Bewegungsumfanges. Seine Funktion besteht primär darin, eine posteriore Translation der Tibia zu verhindern. Überdies spielt es bei defekten Kollateralbändern eine rotationsstabilisierende Rolle in varus und valgus und verhindert Überstreckung bei defekter posteriorer Kapsel. Da es sich bei dem hinteren Kreuzband um eine mediale Struktur handelt, die an der femoralen Kondyle ansetzt, ist es beim Varusknie häufig kontrahiert und beim Valgusknie häufig elongiert. Bei Kontraktion kann es bei weitgehender Erhaltung der Funktion häufig teilweise released werden. Selbst bei insuffizienter Funktion zur Bereitstellung adäquater posteriorer Stabilität kann es zur Rotations- und Varus-Valgus-Stabilisation beitragen.
