Trace Transform and Its Application in Seismic Surface Wave Processing

Abstract

In this paper, we describe a useful tool, the Co-Core Trace (CCT) transform, to attenuate the surface waves in seismic record. This transform is based on the Trace transform from image processing and applied in seismic record processing for the first time. Taking the surface wave propagation and distribution into account, the CCT transform could significantly enhance its energy in CCT domain. The validity of using CCT transform as a precise filter in surface wave attenuation is verified with synthetic seismic models. Moreover, texture analysis with invariant Triple Feature illustrates that with CCT transform filtering, not only the surface wave is effectively and cleanly suppressed, but also the texture of the seismic record is well recovered.
