Abstract

The annual cycle followed by European bison in the Białowieża Forest consists of two markedly different periods: a period of free movement throughout the period of the year without snow cover, in which bison make use of natural food; and a period of winter concentration around places at which supplementary food is made available (Fig. 11.1).
