Zusammenfassung

Epilepsien gehören zu den häufigsten neurologischen Erkrankungen. Sie manifestieren sich als Kernsymptom in Form epileptischer Anfälle, die ein weites Spektrum subjektiv wahrgenommener und äußerlich sichtbarer Symptome umfassen können. Während solcher Anfälle, aber auch unabhängig von Anfallsereignissen, können bei Patienten mit Epilepsien Beeinträchtigungen der kognitiven Leistungsfähigkeit und des psychischen Befindens auftreten. Hierbei gehören Gedächtnisstörungen zu den am häufigsten beklagten kognitiven Problemen und können im Zusammenhang mit Epilepsien auf unterschiedlichen Ursachen beruhen. Im Folgenden werden nach einer kurzen Einführung in das Krankheitsbild und seine Therapieoptionen die unterschiedlichen pathogenetischen Faktoren und relevante diagnostische Verfahren zur Erfassung mnestischer Beeinträchtigungen bei Epilepsiepatienten erläutert sowie rehabilitative Ansätze vorgestellt.
