Abstract

Error concealment methods can reduce the quality degradation induced by packet loss under the unstable condition of wireless network at the decoder side. In this paper, a new exemplar-based spatial error concealment algorithm is proposed utilizing adaptive ordering block match. To achieve a better subjective video quality, structural information like the edge is first restored, and then the texture is concealed with an adaptive ordering block match algorithm. First, the local similarity is generated from the edge information and multiscale pictures. Next, the edges around the loss area are paired and restored under the constraint of local similarity. A block-based spatial error concealment procedure is then performed to conceal the loss area. The priority of concealment is decided by the intensity, reliability, and the similarity of the nearby areas. From experimental results, the proposed algorithm gains 1.6 to 1.8 db on the objective quality comparing with the algorithm implemented in JM14.0.
