Zusammenfassung

Unter dem Begriff „blotten“ (engl.: to blot = klecksen) versteht man die Übertragung bestimmter Substanzen auf eine Membran. Dort können sie dann detektiert und quantifiziert werden. Wenn es sich bei diesen Substanzen um DNA handelt, spricht man von einem Southern-Blot (nach dem Erfinder dieser Methode Ed M. Southern, 1975). Überträgt man RNA, wird der Begriff Northern-Blot benutzt; für den Nachweis von Proteinen führt man einen Western-Blot durch.
